Coaching Style
A former senior operating executive with IBM, PayPal and The Economist Group, Ben brings a wealth of corporate experience to his leadership and team coaching. As a business leader, Ben mastered both the art and science of building organisations that can sustain learning, adapt to change, and deliver with excellence. As a consultant and coach, Ben helps his clients bring clarity, alignment, and intensity to the total functioning and performance of the organisation, from the C-suite to the “shop floor”.
Professional Experience
Ben began his career as a journalist and foreign correspondent, working for The Economist in London, Tokyo, and New York. He later returned to The Economist as a member of its senior leadership team and publisher of its online edition. In between, he held a variety of senior executive roles at IBM, including that of Chief Communications Officer, reporting to then CEO Ginni Rometty. Ben concluded his corporate career at PayPal, where he served as Vice President of Product Management, transforming how the company’s product managers, designers and software engineers work together.
Qualifications
Ben completed undergraduate studies at Oxford University and postgraduate work at London University, is a Certified Co-Active Coach trained in Positive Intelligence, ICF-certified and a certified agile coach, and is certified in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the Gestalt Institute of the Rockies, where he now teaches.
Personal Interests
Ben enjoys riding his horse Declan, backpacking and cabinet making. Ben practices Pure Land / Zen Buddhism and volunteers his time to work with people suffering from addictions.
