We are delighted to announce that Tim Johnston has joined Aesara Partners’ Executive Coaching and Consulting team.

Aesara Partners is headquartered in the UK (London, Edinburgh) with offices in France. (Paris, Lyon), Ireland (Dublin), Asia Pacific (Singapore, Hong Kong, Brisbane, Melbourne), and the Americas (Boston, New York, Buenos Aires). Tim has 25 years of experience as a trader and leader at Investment Banks and Hedge Funds, running regional and global businesses, as well as holding non-executive board positions and participating in industry bodies to lead change in European Equity Markets. He has also played a key role in JPMorgan’s programme to design and implement cultural change to reduce conduct risk. Tim’s career transition from trader to coach started in 2015 at Insead, where he was awarded an Executive Masters in Coaching and Consulting for Change. In this programme he studied a psychodynamic approach to leadership, delving deep into the drivers of human behaviour and the hidden dynamics of organisations. Tim then went on to qualify as a Personal & Business Coach with Barefoot Coaching, and also as a legal mediator. He is on the teaching faculty of the London School of Mediation.

Tim Johnston is an Executive Coach and Legal Mediator. Based in London, Tim works with a range of clients including Board level executives, financial services professionals, and individuals in transition. He has 25 years of Investment Banking and Hedge Fund experience as a trader, trading manager and leader of business units and global teams.

After graduating in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from Oxford University in 1993, Tim joined Goldman Sachs in London as an equity trader. His interest in managing and developing people, in addition to being responsible for devising and executing business strategy, led him to a management role at Bear Stearns in 2000. From 2003 Tim worked in hedge funds and with the Wellcome Trust in London, before joining JPMorgan in 2010, where he ran the European Cash Equity trading business, and for a period the Global Program Trading business, leaving in 2018.

In 2015 Tim studied part-time at Insead University, completing an Executive Masters in Coaching & Consulting for Change in 2017. On leaving finance, he trained with Barefoot Coaching and is currently completing his postgraduate certificate with the University of Chester. He also trained as a legal mediator with the London School of Mediation in 2020 and is part of their teaching faculty.

Tim is particularly interested in diversity in the workplace (having written his thesis on the difficulties of hiring female traders), as well as using outdoor coaching settings both one-to-one and in groups, to animate greater possibilities and transformation. He spends his leisure time hiking, rowing, and immersing himself in music and photography.
